  • The emphasis of Steller Secondary is an alternative school program is on attaining an education through responsibility to self and the community. Students, parents and staff participate in the democratic process of setting school policies. Students participate in all aspects of the school program from planning and scheduling activities, mentoring and assisting younger students and designing course work through independent study and peer-taught classes. Because they participate in the operation of the school, students acquire leadership and personal responsibility for their school and community. Students are encouraged to give back to the community through community service. Traditional teacher-directed learning is combined with Socratic method, university coursework and independent study. Students are active decision-makers in their education. Steller provides its students with instructional options that appeal to a variety of learning styles and interests. Steller s mission is to educate young people and enable them to grow into productive, positive citizens in a dynamic and evolving world.
